Joshua Campos,  whose DJ name is Ghosstek, hails from Boyle Heights, CA. Music has been an integral part of Joshua’s life from a young age, thanks to his father’s side hustle as a mobile DJ and his work in music entertainment. Surrounded by a variety of genres and influences, Joshua’s early exposure to music laid the foundation for his passion and career.

 

Growing up, Joshua’s parents, aunt, and uncle were pivotal in shaping his musical journey. His parents’ nostalgia for underground raves and house music, coupled with his formal training in piano and self-taught skills in multiple instruments, set the stage for his exploration into DJing and music production. High school saw Joshua balancing his love for punk rock with DJing at school events and house parties, where he began honing his skills in studio recording and audio production.

 

Ghosstek’s sound is a vibrant mix of Tech House, Techno, Minimal Tech, and Latin Tech House, occasionally venturing into Bass House. His eclectic influences range from Mozart to The Smiths, Gorillaz, Deadmau5, Above & Beyond, The Misfits, Daft Punk, Deorro, and i_o, reflecting a diverse musical palette that informs his unique style.

 

Previously known as Joshua Fields, he played on KXLU FM and KLBP FM, and performed at venues like Sharkeez Hermosa Beach, Pattern Bar LA, Legacy Nightclub, Catch One, The Basement, and Cosmo Ultra Lounge. Under his former alias, he released seven EPs and a single, experimenting with various EDM styles. As Ghosstek, he’s focused on a more defined sound, releasing an EP and a single under Wave Science Records that truly capture his musical identity.

 

What sets Ghosstek apart is his long-standing immersion in the music scene and his ability to blend diverse genres and techniques into his work. His performances are a testament to his deep-rooted connection with music and his dynamic approach to DJing and production.

 

Currently, Ghosstek is working on multiple Tech House, Latin Tech, Minimal, and Minimal Bass House projects, with plans to release four EPs this year and perform at more venues. Driven by a profound passion for music and a love for high-energy, positive environments, his ultimate goal is to perform at major events like those organized by Insomniac and to be signed by a major label.

 

A proud Chicano, Ghosstek incorporates his cultural background into his music, aiming to inspire other artists to embrace and express their ethnic heritage. By producing and performing Latin Tech House, he hopes to build a community and make a lasting impact on the music scene.

 

Outside of music, Joshua is a multi-instrumentalist who used to play in bands and sometimes fills in for other musicians. He’s also a barber and enjoys writing, singing, and drawing. His hobbies include joy riding on his motorcycle, watching anime, playing video games, fishing, and bowling
